Cheryl Elaine Jones Bennett was born May 7, 1964, to Hershell Douglas and Joyce Elaine Judd Jones, and passed to her heavenly home, on Aug. 10, 2024, while at her residence.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Don Bennett; son, Steven Kyle (Sarah) Bennett; granddaughter, Aowlyn “Winnie” Bennett; brother, Mark (Grace) Jones; sister, Connie (Bruce) Manson; mother-in-law, Ruby Bennett; sister-in-law, Judy (David) Sain; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members are left to mourn.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shelia Richardson; and father-in-law, Harold Bennett.

Cheryl was a graduate of White County High School. She began her working career at the age of 13 washing dishes for Cooper’s Restaurant. She also worked for a short period at Doyle Shirt Factory before moving on to Wagner Electric, where she was employed for 13 years. At the age of 30, Cheryl went back to school to realize her dream of becoming an RN. After leaving school, she was hired by Life Care Center of Sparta and spent 20 years as an MDS Coordinator. In 2021, after many years of fighting cancer and heart disease, Cheryl was forced to retire.

Cheryl was a strong woman of faith and was a member of Findlay Church of Christ.

Funeral service was 11 a.m., Aug. 13, 2024, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Doyle Crawford officiated.

Those Cheryl requested to be her pallbearers were Steve Rollins, Michael Sain, David Sain, Jason Driver, John Green, and Sam Slatton.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
