Sherman Clifford Goodwin, better known as Clifford, age 90, of Sparta, passed away April 27, 2025, at his residence.
Clifford was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Sparta, to William Gairret and Ethel Roberts Goodwin.
He retired from Red Kap after 36 years of service. He loved to work. In addition to his factory work, he was a dairy farmer and logger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Goodwin, Plennie Goodwin, John G. Goodwin, Ollen C. Goodwin Charlie Goodwin; and sisters, Velma Ruth Hedgecoth and Bessie Tollison.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Linda Whiteaker Goodwin; children, Danny Goodwin and wife Kimetha, Darrell Goodwin and wife Melanie, Tammy and husband Adam Hickey; grandchildren, Daniel Goodwin, Christopher Goodwin, Natalie Goodwin, Reagan Goodwin, Addie Hickey, Laurie Hickey; niece, Darlene Goddard and husband Mike; and man’s best friend, Annie. Funeral service was 11 a.m., April 30, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Thomas McCulley and Jim Tollison officiated.
Daniel Goodwin, Christopher Goodwin, Caleb Tollison, Michael James, Adam Hickey, and Chris Phillips served as pallbearers. Kevin Phillips was an honorary pallbearer.
