Cora Louise Williams "Lucy" Manus, 81, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 29, 2020, at Saint Thomas West Hospital, in Nashville.

Mrs. Manus was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Sparta, to Vestal Williams and Martha Lou Geer Williams. 

She had a work history that had many stops, but her most enjoyable and most remembered were her 19 years in the dietary department at White County Hospital. Her fried chicken is still held in high regard with staff and patients who got to enjoy it. She and her husband were founding members of the championship-winning Tennessee Figure 8 Square Dancing Team. They were champions of the 1984 Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree.

Mrs. Manus was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Thomas Manus; and brothers, R.V. Williams and Lonnie Williams.

Surviving family members include her two daughters, Doris Cooper and husband Bobby, of Jamestown, Donna Strickland and husband Ronnie, of Santa Fe, Texas; three sons, Eddie Manus and wife Beverly, of Pikeville, Thomas Manus and wife Tina, of Lakeland, Florida, Billy Manus and wife Tammy, of Sparta; granddaughters, Nakia Oakes and husband Ryan, Lindsey Bamburg and husband Raleigh, Amber Manus, SuzAna Cravens and husband Stanton, Ashley Strickland, Jasmine Strickland, Logan Strickland; grandsons, Nathan Whiteaker and wife Savanna, Cody Valentine and wife Katlyn, T.J. Manus and wife Rachel, C.J. Manus, Bryce Whiteaker, Sawyer Wilson, Brandon Phillips; great-grandsons, Cayson, Maxwell, Colt, Cash, Raleigh, and one on the way named Cade; great-granddaughters,  Aribella Manus, Rigby, Texanna, Samara, Lola, Lily, Emery, Lakeland, Rylan, Chrislyn; sister, Margaret Williams Wilson and Roger; fur baby and companion, Tinker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was 1 p.m., Oct. 3, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. John Lawson officiated.

T.J. Manus, C.J. Manus, Nathan Whiteaker, Cody Valentine, Joe Goines, and Terry Stinnett served as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
