David Lee Green Sr., 65, of Sparta, passed away Feb. 9, 2025, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
David was born March 5, 1959, in Sparta, to Fred and Emma Jean Wilson Green.
He was a logger like his father. He loved fishing and enjoying a cold refreshment while he fished.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Green; granddaughter, Brooklyn Green; infant brother, Freddie Eugene Green; brother, Johnnie (Lyn) Green; grandparents, Ova Doney and William Sylvester Green, Joe Wilson and Lora Usrey; and brothers-in-law, Steve Young and Arthur Young.
Survivors include his partner in life, Teresa Howard; children, Annette Rogers, David Green Jr., James Green, Regina Nicole Green, Leesa Staver, Eddie Staver; grandchildren, Hunter Rodgers, Ali Rodgers, Kaley Knowles, Jacob Knowles, Emma Green, Joni Green, Ava Green, Lawrence "Jack" Staver, Maleigha Green; sisters, Kathy Young, Teresa Young, Phyllis (Jason) Hollcomb, all of Sparta, Bridgette Brock, of Smithville, Sonya (Darrell) Mabe, of Rock Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Feb. 13, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Nathan Hawkins officiated.
Michael Conley-Young, Eddie Staver, Josh West, Julian Taylor, Jason Hollcomb, Jackie "Pete" Gilley, and Gabriel Mendoza served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
