David Palk, 75, of Sparta, passed away July 24, 2023, at Saint Thomas Midtown, in Nashville.
David was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Cookeville, the son of Clarence Palk Jr. and Janie Huddleston Palk.
David coached both Junior Pro and Youth Basketball for 35 years in the Sparta Youth League. He was the owner of farm supply businesses in Sparta, Cookeville, and Crossville. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam era, serving in Special Services.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bethel Palk, and grandmother, Avo Palk.
Surviving family includes his wife of 54 years, LaJuana Hitchcock Palk, of Sparta; daughters, Kathy Palk, of Mt. Juliet, Andy (Kyle) Wyley, of Franklin; grandchildren, Davey and Hank Slaughter; brother, Mike (Peggy) Palk, of Cookeville; and many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
A graveside service with family and friends was held on David's birthday, Sept. 4, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Gath Baptist Church Cemetery (6967 Smithville Highway, in McMinnville, Tennessee 37110).
Memorial donations can be made to the Sparta Youth Basketball League, 421 Creekside Place, Sparta, Tennessee 38583.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
