Dennis Russell Turney, 79, passed peacefully at home, on Oct. 3, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born July 22, 1945, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Mable Hawkins Turney and Jack Hopson Turney.
Dennis was a faithful member of Sycamore Church of Christ, in Cookeville. In his free time, he loved to travel.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by first wife, Lois Kuykendall Turney, and his great-granddaughter, Allorah Day Turney.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Smith; four children, Scott Turney (Connie), Tammy Baca (Nick), Darrell Turney (Susan), Tracy Montoya (Joe); two stepchildren, Jimmy Smith, Beth Smith; 11 grandchildren, Justin Turney, Samantha Core, Matthew Turney, Luke Turney, John Mark Turney, Joshua Turney, Rachel Turney, Chelsea Baca, Jonathan Baca, A.J. Montoya, Hunter Allen; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Turney (Shirley), Ken Turney (Scarlett); one sister, Jackie Waterfall (James); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and other beloved friends.
A funeral service was 11 a.m., Oct. 8, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Prosperity Cemetery, in Auburntown.
Pallbearers were Matthew Turney, Luke Turney, John Mark Turney, Joshua Turney, Jonathan Baca, A.J. Montoya, and Hunter Allen
Memorial donations may be made to Allorah’s Box.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
