Dewey Lee Swindell, 82, of Sparta, passed away June 26, 2025, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Dewey was born March 24, 1943, in Sparta, to Charley and Martha Harris Swindell.
He worked a variety of jobs and ultimately retired from Red Kap. Dewey was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, gardening, and taking care of his lawn on his Bad Boy Mower. Dewey was an active member of First Community Church and loved spreading God’s word whenever he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Pedigo, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Dorothy Holman.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Peggy Holman Swindell; son, Ronald (Beth) Swindell; grandsons, Cason Swindell, Christopher Swindell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Randy (Kristi) Holman, Lisa (John) Wilson, Rex (Kim) Holman, Amy (Alan) Cash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., June 29, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Old Bon Air Cemetery. John David Wilson officiated.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital
