Dolly Jean Rice, 87, of Sparta, Tennessee, passed on Friday, May 8, 2026, at her home in Sparta, Tennessee.
She was born on Thursday, March 9, 1939, in Sparta, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Alvin Young Sr. and the late Ida Mae O'Dell Young.
In addition to her parents, Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry E. Rice; brothers: Alvin Young Jr. and James Young; sister: Mary Ruth Brock; daughter-in-law: Deborah Young; and infant daughter.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Sandra) Young; daughter, Tammy (Larry) Kirby; sister, Ada Prater; grandchildren: Steven (Kirsty) Young; Blake Young; great-grandchildren: McKena Young and Madox Young; and a loving host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Steven Young, Madox Young, Jonathan Smith, Tommy Brock, Danny Sherrill, and Brandon Crawford; honorary pallbearer: Blake Young.
A Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, located at 1786 Smithville Hwy, Sparta, Tennessee 38583. Interment will be in Old Bon Air Cemetery, Sparta, TN.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
