Earl Smith, 91, of Sparta passed peacefully at home, on Oct. 21, 2024, after an extended illness.
He was the son of Walter and Lena Howell Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dina Pearl Smith; brother, Von Smith; sister, Polly Gibson; and companion of 32 years, Rozella Abston.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Whiteaker; stepson, Steve (Janie) Randolph; granddaughter, Whitney (Tyler) Mullins; nieces, Maria (Steve) Moore, Emily Jones; nephew, Baron Smith; bonus family, Becky (Todd) Stanton, Hannah and Emily Stanton, Shirley Winningham, Greg (Libby) Abston, Teresa (Tim) Lewis, Regina Commander, Cassandra Dunivan; and his BonDeCroft Baptist Church family.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for excellent care and support of Earl’s last months at home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Graveside service was noon, Oct. 23, 2024, at Old Zion Cemetery. Bro. Jason Lewis officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
