Election Results Reflect Some Change and Not

Thursday, August 6 Results

Posted

On Thursday, August 6, many candidates watched eagerly to see the outcome of the local elections and whether their work campaigning paid off.  As the results came in, there were some changes in various seats of authority while other positions stayed the same.  By now, many have heard from social media or by word of mouth, but it would be remiss not to have this written for those who desire print and for the history books.  The following results are listed on the White County Election Commission website but are noted as unofficial until the proper process has been completed.

In the County Executive position for White County, Kyle Goff won with 77.56 percent of the total vote over Joe Hallums with 18.08 percent and Penny Whaley with 4.36 percent.

The most heated race for this election was the position of White County Sheriff.  Current Sheriff Steve Page won by receiving 56.69 percent of the votes while his opponent, Daniel Trivette, received 43.31 percent of the votes.  This was the tight race that many believed it would be.

In other races, County Commission District 1 was won by Cain Rogers and Chris Brewington, leaving Daniel Keith as the only candidate not getting a position in this district.

County Commission District 2 was won by Bill Templeton and Erick Dildine, leaving T.K. Austin, Ronnie Miller, and Javier Ortiz as the remaining candidates of the election.

County Commission District 3 was won by Becky Golden and Willard Greene, leaving Emory Thompson as the only other candidate in this district.

County Commission District 4 was won by Edward Newport and John Dakota White, leaving Ben Knupp as the only other candidate in this district.

County Commission District 5 was won by Dana Temple and Megan McBride Dodson, leaving Will Randolph as the only other candidate in this district.

County Commission District 6 was won by Derrick Hutchings and Bryan Cole, leaving Janett Marie McElheny as the only other candidate in this district.

County Commission District 7 was won by Tracy England Fowler and Andy Davis, leaving Jonathon Howard as the only other candidate in this district.

School Board Member for District 5 was won by Jerry Kelsey, leaving Larry Thompson as the only other candidate for this district.

Alderman at-Large was won by all three candidates since there were three positions.  They are Jim Floyd, Travis McBride, and Robert (Bobby) Officer.

While the following ran unopposed in their positions, they are recognized for winning the election for the respective position.  Kathryn Passons Adcock won as County Trustee, Beverly Finley Jolley won as Circuit Court Clerk, Sasha Lee Wilson won as County Clerk, Lori Ann Jones won as Register of Deeds, Jerry Sawyer won as Road Superintendent, Chandel Thorpe won as School Board Member for District 6, Bryan Liner won as School Board Member for District 7, and Mayor Jerry Lowery won as Mayor.

This election was filled with candidates vying for positions due to their desire to continue to make White County and Sparta a great place to live.  Congratulations to those who won their electoral position.
