Ernest “Tooter” Martin Gist, 70, passed away Dec. 31, 2023.
He was born March 8, 1953, in Sparta, to Ernest York and Josephine Gist.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Gist; grandparents, Willie “Son” Martin Gist and Annie Gist; and brother, John (Joe) Davis Gist.
He is survived by his son, Robert Gist; daughter-in-law, Tonya Gist; grandchildren, Charlie Jackson, Trey Brewington, Robert Jackson, Marcus Evans, Kayla Nash; and numerous family members
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Jan. 9, 2024, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Doyle Cemetery. Bro. Gary Gardenhire Jr. officiated.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
