Ernestene Dodson Goodwin, 87, of the Hampton's Crossroads community, passed away Jan. 1, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by family and friends.
Ernestene was born July 12, 1937, in the Big Bottom community, of White County, to Frank and Verna Mae Guy Dodson.
She was a retired packaging coordinator for Porelon Inc., in Cookeville. In her retirement years, she will be remembered for her Little Ole House Antique shop near her home. Ernestene was quite active with the U.T. Extension Agency Home Demonstration Club, and she looked forward to entering her crafts in the fair every year. She was a longtime member of Pistole Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Lee Goodwin, who died July 15, 2012; sister, Martha Brasel; and brother, Billy Wade Dodson.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Cunningham and husband Earl, of Cookeville; grandchildren, Clint Peterman and wife Kayla, of Cookeville, Jacob Peterman and wife Kimberly, of Knoxville, William Peterman and wife Hannah, of Thailand; great-grandchildren, Channing, Camille, Wren, Shepherd, Chance and Hinny Peterman; step-grandchildren, Noelani Cunningham, Kalani Cunningham; sister, Carolyn Goff and husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Jan. 6, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Howard Cemetery. Clint Walker officiated.
Clint Peterman, Jacob Peterman, Richard Goff, David Goff, Jeff Sliger, and Robert Dalton served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were William Peterman and Jeff Cunningham.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
