Evelyn Yott, 87, passed away July 6, 2023, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 7, 1935, in the DeRossett community of White County, along with her twin brother, Edwin, to Robert Earl Yott Jr. and Bertha Mae Bohannon Yott.  Edwin passed away four days after birth.

Evelyn grew up the youngest of three girls in her family. She was very close to her sisters. After graduating high school, she moved to. Detroit to reconnect with her older sisters, Margaret and Betty.  During her time in Detroit, she worked for several regional banks. She was a bank branch manager for Comerica Bank when she retired. After retirement, she relocated to Sun City West, Arizona, with her sister, Margaret.  She had recently relocated to Olathe, Kansas, to be closer to her family after her sister, Margaret, passed away.

Evelyn had several passions in her life. A few that stood out to her family and friends were her love of sports and food.  Evelyn would cheer on her hometown teams in Detroit, Arizona, and Kansas City. She would tell you she made the best armchair manager, questioning the moves made by every manager and coach.  Wherever she resided, she would make time to watch the local baseball, football, and basketball teams. She was also a fan of golf and would spend many summer weekend days watching the PGA tournaments.

Evelyn was a foodie! She could recall and recite many of her favorite meals over the years. Her family and friends were always amazed at her ability to recollect memories that revolved around family, friends, and food.  The way she would describe her meals incorporating the word “delicious” became her trademark.  Evelyn loved traveling to Las Vegas. It was one of her favorite vacations incorporating her love of food, slot machines, and sports!

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Betty (Joseph) Pasco; niece, Nancy (Paul) Galbraith; nephews, Christopher (Dawn) Pasco, Patrick (Danyeal) Pasco, Jason Pasco; great-nephews, Ryan Pasco, Wylder Pasco; and great-niece, Lauren Pasco.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m., Aug. 19, 2923, at Smith Chapel Cemetery, in Sparta. Evelyn will be laid to rest, along with her sister, Margaret, in a fitting tribute to all the years they spent together here on earth. Ken Wallace will officiate.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
