George Jay Carroll, 93, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 15, 2023, at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Fenton, Michigan, and was the son of Clarence and Zada Carroll.
He was co-owner of Mt. Side Auto Parts for several years. He later became a truck driver, hauling steel. After retiring, he enjoyed hanging out at the YMCA and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Carroll, and son, Ron Carroll.
Survivors include his daughters, Renee Rojas, of Madison, Alabama, Rechel McManus (Chris), of Sparta; son, Robert Carroll (Kathleen), of Dearborn, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Carroll, of Lowell, Michigan; and daughter-in-law, Beckie Carroll, of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Aug. 20, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends noon-2 p.m., Aug. 20, at the funeral home.
