Henry “Gerald” “Dude” Adcock, 75, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Henry was born April 21, 1949, in Sparta, to Miranda Pittman Adcock and Henry Wade Adcock

Gerald married the love of his life, Peggy Dean McKendree Adcock, on May 3, 1968.

Gerald was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, spreading Bible truths and helping others. He worked for UPS for over 31 years, retiring in 2006.  Gerald was an avid U.T. fan, enjoying the football and basketball games.  He also enjoyed camping and four-wheeling with family and friends.  He loved his dogs, Apple and Scruffie.  Gerald couldn’t walk, but he sure found a way to make it onto his mower, ensuring all those lines were perfect and the lawn well-manicured.  He was a no-nonsense man and very easygoing, usually a man of few words.  He took forever to make decisions, taking time to investigate and check reviews to ensure the best purchase.

He was selfless man, and he loved his family and Jehovah God.

Gerald was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Farley, and sisters Jean, Nell, Zona, Marie, and Judy.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Adcock; son and spouse, Randy and Cindy Adcock, of Cookeville; one grandchild and spouse, Ethan and Lauren Adcock, of Cookeville; sister, Betty and J.C. Slatten, of Sparta, one brother, Dennis Adcock, of Sparta; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service was 11 a.m., Sept. 30, 2024, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, in Cookeville. Bro. Matt Ferraro officiated.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home, in Cookeville, was in charge of arrangements.
