At the Monday, July 20, 2026, White County Commission meeting, 11 of the Commissioners were present to have a quorum to conduct business. The first resolution to be voted on was Resolution 38-07-2026, to amend the 2027 General Fund to include a JAG grant of $177,000 for the re-entry services at the jail. This resolution passed unanimously.
Next on the agenda was Resolution 39-07-2026, which included the purchase of a fire truck for the Eastland Volunteer Fire Department, in addition to repairs that are needed for the Central View Fire Department totaling $45,000, with 80 percent of the needed funds coming from the county and 20 percent of the needed funds coming from the fire departments themselves. This resolution also passed unanimously.
The following resolution was presented from the Steering Committee A by Chairman TK Austin. Resolution 40-07-2026 included the cooperative purchasing agreement allowing multiple government entities to combine purchasing power for lower volume-based prices. This resolution passed with all 11 commissioners voting yes.
Resolution 41-07-2026 was presented by the Steering Committee B and Commissioner Robert McCormick as the spokesman. This was the most anticipated resolution from many of the residents in the county, due to its focus on the data centers, also known as AI structures. Resolution 41-07-2026 authorizes a ban on any AI structure connected to the grid in White County. This resolution was passed unanimously.
Resolution 42-07-2026 was also presented by Steering Committee B regarding rescinding a previous resolution that allowed the license plate cameras, also known as Flock cameras, to operate within White County. This, too, was another awaited resolution for many residents. This resolution passed with all 11 votes.
In one meeting, two of the hottest topics were voted on and addressed to bring peace to the public's minds. Although it is yet to be seen how quickly the Flock cameras will come down, the ball is already in motion for them to be removed. After a few comments from the public, the meeting adjourned with other topics to discuss in August.
