James Hubert Davison, 82, of Sparta, passed away Jan. 7, 2023, at Specialty Select Hospital at Saint Thomas West, in Nashville.

James was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to William Herbert Davison and Viola Ann Duncan Davison.

He was a lifelong mechanic and truly enjoyed his time spent working in his garage. He loved watching wrestling and enjoyed his daily meeting with his friends, sitting around his garage solving the world’s problems.  More than anything else, he loved being Papa to his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rhea Bumbalough Davison, who died Oct. 19, 2015, and his brother, Jr. Davison.

He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Tamara and Tim Hogan, Sharon and Kelly Flannery, Lesa and Roger Young, Michael Davison, Melanie Davison, Marty and Brandi Davison; grandchildren, Amy Manning, Ashley Hogan, Travis Flannery, Caleb Flannery, Shane Young, Nicholas Young, Jackson Manus, Andrew Manus, Joshua Young, Marty Allen Davison, Matthew Davison; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Prater and Marie Simmons; and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in law.

Funeral service was 1 p.m., Jan. 11, 2023, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Howell Cemetery. Garry McBride officiated.

Travis Flannery, Caleb Flannery, Shane Young, Nicholas Young, Jackson Manus, and Andrew Manus served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Young, Matthew Davison, Marty Allen Davison, Travis Jernigan, Mike Murdock, Joe Brady, Tony Young, Sonny Dailey, Marion Wright, and Wayne Wright.
