James Hubert Officer was born July 28, 1932, and passed from this life, on April 6, 2025.
James was the son of Hubert Officer and Cleta Clark Officer.
Mr. Officer was a farmer by trade and did his job from 1940 until 2022.
After being a devoted farmer, James loved to travel and spend time with his granddaughter and great-grandchildren making special memories. James also loved spending time with family, in North Carolina, during Christmas.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Audrey Officer Planck.
James is survived by his loving wife, Jean Goodridge Officer, two sons, Steven Russell Douse, of Sparta, Randall Karl Balasky, of Sparta; sister, Carol Sue Officer Cratch Mayo; granddaughter, Penny Renee Douse Deacons and husband Jamison; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Elisha, Titus, and Lily.
Mr. Officer is the beloved uncle of nephews Greg Cratch (Jane), Michael Cratch (Rhonda), and Stephen Cratch (Lisa), and nieces Elizabeth Planck Cantrell (Mark), and Jill Cleta Planck Guy Sevier (Sam).
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., April 13, 2025, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Pastor Brad Windlan will officiate. The family will receive friends 12:30-2:30 p.m., April 13, 2025, at the funeral home.
The family would like to invite attendees to a potluck picnic at the pavilion located at Old Zion church following services.
