Jason “Mudflap” Lee Roberts

Jason “Mudflap” Lee Roberts passed away at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta, on July 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jason, who was better known as Mudflap by all his friends, loved life. He loved to be the center of attention; he loved to make people laugh.

Jason was born having to face challenges that most of us never have to face. He would push himself way above the norm just to prove himself as worthy or better than the average healthy man. When he was a young boy, he would chase after his dad and grab and hold onto the mudflaps on his dad’s semi-truck, dragging the heels off his boots. He wanted to go with him instead of going to school. This is how he got the nickname “Mudflap.”

He started at a very young age working with engines. He was fixing and selling lawnmowers as a small boy. This led to bigger and better projects as he got older. He was a mechanical genius; there wasn’t anything about motors he couldn’t figure out.

He led a very interesting life from mechanic, dirt track racing, shooting dynamite by the Batman tower, fishing, setting house trailers, repossessing, and running a bar. Needless to say he never passed up an adventure or backed away from a challenge. He stood tall, proud, and fearless.

In 2013, Jason’s last adventure would begin when he met the love of his life, Bobbi. He began to settle down, starting to plan new adventures with her. But, sadly, his health slowly began to decline. In the last three years, it started rapidly going downhill until God decided it was time to bring him home. He was a man that when he loved he loved hard and will be forever loved and missed. Many hearts are broken now that he is gone.

I’ve written this for you, Jason, with all the love in my heart. We love you - Bobbi & family.

He was born July 8, 1974, in Crossville, to James “Buddy” and Carol Roberts.

Jason was preceded in death by mother.

He is survived by his fiancé of 11 years, Bobbi Poston; father, James “Buddy” Roberts; sister, Denise Roberts; and several family members and friends.

Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
