Jack Ronald Massa Jr., affectionately known as Jay, 54, of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly, on Aug. 29, 2025, in the emergency room of Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
Jay was born Nov. 25, 1970, in Jacksonville, Florida. Jay was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a gentle giant with a sly sense of humor. His journey on earth was one marked by love and compassion.
Those who knew Jay will remember him for his infectious smile and loud overwhelming laughter. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. If you needed something repaired, Jay was your guy. He saw no junk - only potential. He loved children and animals. He also loved hunting, going to the lake or creek rock hunting, and riding motorcycles and four wheelers.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Jack Ronald Massa Sr.. and his sister, Angie Massa.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include wife, Dondi Massa; son, Tucker Massa (Emma Dorner); stepchildren, Logan Taylor, Talon Billings; mother, Gail Kirby and husband Danny; stepmother, Melissa Massa; sister, Emma Massa; stepsisters, Melissa (Greg) James, Jennifer Brown; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Sandra Billings; mother of his son, Gina Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.
The Massa family has entrusted Hunter Funeral Home with Jay’s cremation.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
