Jerry Wayne Long, 72, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 1, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Jerry was born Aug. 14, 1951, in Chattanooga, to Charlie Coffee Long and Dorothy Gladys Earls Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Simmons Long, and three brothers, Charles Dale Long, John Kenneth Long, and James Stanley Long
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Lee (Charlie), of Sparta, Tennessee; sister, Sherry Savage (Jonathan), of Doyle; brothers, Thomas Richard, of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Glenda Young, of Spencer; grandsons, Dustin Bennett (Harley), of Sparta, Austin Bennett (Jessica), of Sparta; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Dec. 8, 2023, at Doyle Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Skurlock Cemetery. Tracy Curtis will officiate. The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Dec. 8, at the church.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
