Jewell “Jerri” Castleberry, 92, passed away Feb. 18, 2024, in Chattanooga.
She was born March 9, 1931, in Chattanooga.
She was of the Baptist faith and had enjoyed the fellowship of churches on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and in Sparta, Tennessee. At a very young age, she placed her faith and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She had been a seamstress and a florist assistant. She also enjoyed crocheting, making porcelain dolls, canning, and cooking.
Jewell was the matriarch of five generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Nancy Ethel Beck Thompson; her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Castleberry; her son, Farris E. “Butch” Castleberry; her daughter, Martha Harris and grandson Michael Howell; and three brothers, Farries Thompson, Jack Thompson, and Rudolph Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne and son-in-law David Howell; five grandchildren, Lacretia (Steron) Nichols, Vicki (Scott) Syjut, Le-An (Shaw) King, Greg (Lori) Ledford, Brian (Shelly) Ledford; granddaughter-in-law, Courtney Howell; four great-grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Landon Howell, Owen Howell; and one great-great-grandson, Callan Nichols.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
