Joanna (Hill) Wood, 79 of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, June 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Joanna was born on Thursday, May 29, 1947, in Hilham, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Auman Claston Hill and the late Frona Louetta (Hawkins) Hill.
Joanna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, aunt, and friend. She loved the Lord, enjoyed singing praises, was a pastor's wife for many years, and served the church in many roles throughout. She was known for her cooking, especially her chicken noodle soup and her coconut cake, and her artistic abilities, especially her drawings and paintings. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Joanna was loved by those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Joanna is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Wood; 3 Daughters, Lynne Thompson, Jessica Wood, and Shawna Wood Carbonell and her husband, Luis; 2 Granddaughters, Isabella Adams and her husband, Ethan, and Lucca Nardelli; 4 Sisters, Faye Horton, Betty Howell, Connie Beltz, and Dorene Howard; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Joanna is preceded in death by her 5 Siblings, Barbara Pettit, Brenda Bryant, George, Glenn, and David Hill.
Funeral Service for Joanna (Hill) Wood will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 12:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
