Joe Justin Simmons, 79, of Quebeck, passed away Nov. 25, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Joe was born Nov. 15, 1946, in McMinnville, to Effie Dillon and Josephine Black Simmons.
He was proud of the fact that he started working at Mallory when the doors opened and stayed until it shut down. Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved working his farm, but most of all he loved his family, especially the ones that knew him as Pa and G Pa.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia, Elise, and Rena.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Brenda Jean Cope Simmons; daughter, Stephani Hickey and husband David; grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Klarissa Brattain, Ethan and Amanda Brattain, Maygan and Hayden Slatton, Brittany and Tyler Walling, Brianna Hickey; great-grandchildren, Alexiah, Adison, Cody, Nolan, Madalyn and Zayden Brattain, Exavior Gamblin, Briar and Brooke Walling, Cash and Lleyton Wardlaw, Emma and Liza Slatton; sister, Wilma Copeland; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved pet, Bobo.
In honor of Joe’s wishes, private graveside services were held Nov. 28, 2025, at Anderson Cemetery.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
