Johnny Richard Judd, 73, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 5, 2023, in the emergency room of Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
Johnny was born March 18, 1950, in Doyle, to Edward Kelly and Lola Belle Broom Judd.
He was a life-long heavy equipment operator who enjoyed his job. In fact, he would prefer to always be working. Yet, when not on the job site, he could be found watching and reading westerns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings, Frank Judd, Jimmy Judd, Bill Edd Judd, Barbara Judd, Clara Judd, Daisy McDole, Frances Holcomb, Joyce Jones, and Lena Mae Humphrey.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gail Judd; sons, Robert (Willene) Judd, Michael (Vickie) Judd, Michael (Wendy) Hutchings, Wesley (Erin) Hutchings; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Jones, Carolyn Smith, Becky Martin, Ruthie (Jerry) Kelsey, Kathy (Mark) Driver; brother, Rob Judd; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Aug. 7. 2023, at Ole Bethel Baptist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Jeff Randolph officiated.
Robert Judd, Michael Judd, Michael Hutchings, Wesley Hutchings, Jacob Judd, and Wade Judd served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
