Jonelda Pitman Cash, affectionately known as Moma Jo, age 91, passed from this life, on June 4, 2025, surrounded by family. Her prayer was answered.
Jonelda was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Sparta, to Edgar Elmore and Jewell Mullican Pitman.
She loved God, family, church, and joyfully singing hymns. She also had a great love for her many flowers and vegetable gardens over the years. Jonelda was known for the incredible meals she cooked for family, church events, and her friends. A woman with many God-given talents, Moma Jo catered weddings and special dinners, along with baking wedding and birthday cakes for many. She wanted to feed everyone that dropped by for a visit. She was always sewing for her girls, designing and making floral arrangements, crocheting, painting, and making beautiful jewelry that she loved to share with everyone. Moma Jo never met a stranger anywhere she went.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, James Milford Cash, who died July 14, 2021. She was his sweetheart and the apple of his eye.
She is survived by three daughters, Angie (Robert) Murdock, Sandy (Garry) Witt, Suzi (Waymon) Haston; six grandchildren, Ben (Kaci) Dildine, Chelsea Dildine, Melina (A.J.) Vaughn, Melissa (Luke) Eldridge, Aminee (Justin) Cumby, Diania Witt; nine great-grandchildren, Maddux, Cannon, and Allie Dildine, Jude and Jovi Eldridge, Anderson and Naomi Vaughn, Lakyn and London Cumby; brother, James (Jonelda) Pitman; two nephews, Randy (Kim) Pitman, Chris (Valerie) Pitman; and several great-nephews and great-nieces, all of Mt. Juliet.
Jonelda had a special place in her heart for her adopted daughters/caregivers Jennifer Meadows, Melanie Marshall, and Bobbie Allen.
