Joseph Paul Esposito Sr., 87, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Charter Senior Living of Cookeville in Cookeville with his children by his side.
He was born on Friday, July 14, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland; he was the son of the late Nicholas Esposito and the late Hilda Peters Esposito. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth, in 1957, and together they raised 4 children. He was a devoted family man who cherished family gatherings. His presence at holidays and celebrations brought joy and laughter to those around him.
He was a printer by trade, but his true passion was woodworking. Our mother would give him an idea, and he would run with it.
He is survived by his children: Joseph (Barbara) Esposito Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Kimberly (David) Prochazka of SC, Theresa (Chris) Smith of Cookeville, TN, and Christina Wilson and her friend David Cantrell of Sparta, TN; brothers: Jerome (Josephine) Esposito of MD and Frank (Peggy) Esposito of MD; sister-in-law: Barbara Eburg of MD; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years. His sisters: Rose (William) Hemsley and Theresa (William) Merson; brothers: Nicholas (Auburn) Esposito and Bernard (Judith) Esposito; brothers-in-law: Donald (Betty) Welch and Tom Eburg; granddaughter: Michelle; and son-in-law: Emmet Wilson.
Special thanks to Teri Raley, Linda Wilborn, Crystal Crawford, Cindy Dillon, and Dr. Chet Gentry.
Joe wanted cremation with no services, and the family is honoring his request.
