Joyce Ruth Yates Gantt, 68, a lifelong resident of Doyle, passed away April 23, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Joyce was born Nov. 7, 1953, in Sparta to James Howard "Buck" Yates and Francis Marylene Swack Yates.
She was a former employee of the White County Courthouse, working alongside her mother, Marylene, as custodian and then as a deputy clerk in Connie Jolley's office (White County Court Clerk). Joyce was a member of Doyle Church of Christ. She enjoyed camping at Rock Island and going on short evening trips with her husband, Darrell Lynn Gantt, who died Dec. 11, 2019. Above all else, her greatest joy in life was being Grannie to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jill Gantt Dean, Brandee Gantt Gifford and husband Jamey; grandchildren, Trenton Dean, Alexis Dean, Christopher Leach; siblings, Rickie Yates, Leisa Rene Yates, Diana Yates Carter; and nephews, James Yates, John Yates, Levi Yates, Cameron Carter, and Caleb Carter.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., April 27, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., April 26, at the funeral home.
Jamey Gifford, Cecil Yates, James Yates, Cameron Carter, and Caleb Carter will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearer is John Yates.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
