Larry Robert Brown, 79, of the Rock Island community, passed away peacefully, on March 19, 2025, with his family lovingly by his side.

Larry was an alumnus of Woodbury High School and Tennessee Technological University, where he majored in engineering. His career was multifaceted, from the banking insurance industry to becoming a highly successful salesman in marine products.

His family and friends were his world. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gave him strength during the rough times and laughter and joy all the time.

Larry, or Leroy Brown as his many friends knew him, was a true Southern boy. He excelled in athletics at Woodbury High School where he was a champion quarterback. Larry was an avid fisherman to the point of fishing for bass professionally; he loved sharing his fish tales with his many buddies at the Rock Island Market.

In addition to his parents, George and Linda DeBerry Brown, Larry was preceded in death by his wife and high school sweetheart, Celia Frederick Brown, who passed away in 2007.

He is survived by his children, Terryl Brown Williams (husband, David), of Walling, Robert Duncan Brown (wife, Karen Detwiler Brown), of Walling; grandchildren, Lauren Williams, of Colorado, Lindsey Williams (fiancé, James Kitscha), of Nashville, Karlyn Brown Reel (husband, Jake), of Cookeville, Jake Brown (wife, Caroline), of Nashville, Michael Brown, of Cookeville; great-grandchildren, Mason and Pearce; sister, Judy Guarino (husband, Frank), of St. Augustine, Florida; beloved cat, Kitty Brown; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside service was 10 a.m., March 24, 2025, at Ivy Bluff Cemetery, in Morrison, with his niece, the Rev. Amy Camp, of Memorial Presbyterian Church, of St. Augustine, Florida, officiating.

Oak Lawn Funeral Hom was in charge of arrangements.
