Linda Sue McGinniss, 78, of Sparta, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 29, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. McGinniss was born Feb. 16, 1945, in White County, Tennessee, the daughter of William Vance Roberts and Liddie Virginia Smith Roberts.
She was a member of Black Oak Church of God.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGinniss was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Hugh McGinniss; 12 sisters, LoQuita Joy Judkins, Lella Jean Luna, Ruby Nell Edge, Betty Rowena Roberts, Ola Vee Roberts, Beulah Mae Oakwood, Margaret Cole, Jessie Rice, Christine Swift, Vera Lee Wagoner, Mary Kostelny, Brenda Lou Brown; and four brothers, Vivian Roberts, Carl Roberts, Richard Roberts, and Robert Douglas Roberts; and one great-grandson, Isaiah Freeman.
Mrs. McGinniss is survived by four children, Jeffery Hugh McGinniss, Virginia Sue Judkins (Michael), Stanley Alan McGinniss (Regina), Jessica Marie Austin (Steven); nine grandchildren, Abigail Austin, Samuel McGinniss (Veronica), Ginger Underwood (Levi), Michaela Davis (Shane), Michael “Bo” Judkins, Brian McGinniss, Heather Church, Brandon McGinniss, Ashley Walton (John); eight great-grandchildren, Braylee, Esther, Simon, Griffin, A.J., Patience, Ellie, Daisha; and one brother, J.V. Roberts
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Aug. 1, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Emory Dale Thompson will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 1, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers to serve are Samuel McGinniss, Levi Underwood, Brian McGinniss, Brandon McGinniss, John Walton, Michael "Bo" Judkins, and Shane Davis.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
