Lorraine Tekla Geer, of Sparta passed, away peacefully at NHC Healthcare of Sparta, on Sept. 16, 2023
Lorraine was born April 8, 1930, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, to Bernard Otte and Gertrude Jennings Otte.
She was an avid reader and loved working in her flower garden where she said she felt closer to God. She was a homemaker and supported her husband in several business ventures, including raising strawberries, blueberries, and honey, as well as working as cafeteria manager at BonDeCroft Elementary for several years. She was also very proud of her handmade quilts, giving them to family members. She believed in community service, volunteering in the early days of the BonDeCroft Community Club, the LBJ&C Home Demonstration Club, Women’s Building exhibits at the White County Fair, and Girl Scouts, to name a few.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Willie “Bill” Geer; her grandson, Roy Lee Allen; and four brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her son, William “Bill” Geer (Carol), of Sparta; daughter, Debra Allen, of Sparta; grandchildren, Jason Allen (Misty), Joe Geer, Chip Hall (Elvie), Kendra Saunders (James), Jerri Rodgers (Randy); great-grandchildren, Kyler Allen, Will Geer, Tyler Pinegar, Austin Pinegar, Brittney Tubb, Breanna Hall, Try Hall, Seth Alley, Ariel Holloway, Caleb Alley; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Ward, of Anoka, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
A small memorial service will be 2 p.m. Oct. 1, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetery.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
