Louise Bohannon passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and family, on Oct. 18, 2025, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
She was born on April 16, 1931. Most of her life was spent in Cookeville where she lived on Stevens Street. When her mother passed, she moved to Sparta and lived there until she moved to Life Care Center.
We appreciate the loving care they showed her as she spent her last days there. Her working career was composed of receiving a teaching degree from Tennessee Tech, which enabled her to have a career in education early on. In addition, she worked at two hospitals, Cookeville Regional and White County Hospital, then at Emerson Controls, which later became Mallory Controls.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was a devoted church goer and member of Sparta Free Will Baptist Church where she formed lifelong friendships. She found joy in painting and often shared her artistic creations, bringing color into the lives of those around her. Louise also had a passion for playing piano and memorized many beautiful gospel tunes from the church hymnals. Her love of beautiful tunes extended into her joy of listening to and painting songbirds, which she passed on to her nephew and niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis D. Bohannon and Ethyl Henry Bohannon, and her brothers, Clifton Bohannon, Frank Dewey Bohannon, and Haskel Curtis Bohannon and his wife, Mary Alline Smith Bohannon.
She is survived by her nephew, Gary Michael Bohannon, and her niece, Lois Kay Brashier (Bohannon) and husband Michael, Lois's daughter, Shannon Phillips and husband Adam, their daughter MaeBelle, and a number of cousins.
Memorial contributions to the Bohannon Church would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Oct. 22, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial at Bohannon Church and Cemetery, on Highway 84.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
