Margaret Ann Meadows Phillips, better known as Ann, age 80, a longtime resident of the Hickory Valley community, passed away May 3, 2022.

Ann was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Sparta, to Norman Meadows and Alice Strickland Meadows.

She was retired from Red Kap. She was a collector of many things, most notably custom jewelry and Coca-Cola collectables. She enjoyed traveling - Gatlinburg was her favorite destination. Ann loved watching westerns. She spent countless hours watching The Rifleman, Little Joe on Bonanza, and Gunsmoke. Her passion and greatest joy in life was being "Nanny" to her grandchildren and all who knew her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Joe Phillips, who passed away Feb. 20, 2008; son, Robert "Stick" Phillips; grandson, Keyshawn Hicks; and siblings, Jerry Meadows, Tom Meadows, Evelynn McQuistion, and Judy Bumbalough.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Joann and Zack Craig, Crystal and Adrian Acosta, Brandy and Timothy Lewis; grandchildren, Christopher Winnett, Brandon Phillips, Raymond Phillips, Tabatha (Isidro) Ruiz, Adriana Acosta, Matthew Acosta, Attiah Hicks, Jayden Hicks, Alicia Avalos; several great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Jackie) Hastings; and brothers, Tim (Janetta) Meadows, and George "Bud" Meadows.

Funeral service was 1 p.m., May 7, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. David Wayne Copeland officiated.

Chris Barotti, Chris Winnett, Adrian Acosta, Timothy Lewis, Isidro Ruiz, and Norman Cope served as pallbearers.   

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
