Margaret Virginia Yott, 90, passed away on Dec. 14, 2022, after a short illness.

She was born March 11, 1932, in the DeRossett community of White County, to Robert Earl Yott Jr. and Bertha Mae Bohannon Yott.

After high school, Margaret moved to Detroit and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank until retiring. Margaret was a breast cancer survivor.  She would say you are never too old to learn new things. She started attending college later in her career and graduated with honors from the University of Detroit.

After retiring, she moved with her sister, Evelyn, to Sun City, West Arizona, where she remained until her death. Margaret loved to travel, and, after retiring, she and her sister, Evelyn, would take many trips to see family and friends in Florida, Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Tennessee.  She also enjoyed the occasional trip to Las Vegas. She wasn’t a big gambler but enjoyed the food and entertainment that the city offered.

Margaret had a love and passion for animals.  Over the years, she was always contributing to causes to help animals and animal shelters. Her love was evident in the way she doted over and talked about her poodle, Mistie.  She took in two gerbils from her niece and nephews and treated them like royalty. Later in life, she adopted a poodle from an elderly neighbor who could no longer care for their dog, and Rusty provided several years of companionship before he passed.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Betty (Joseph) Pasco; niece, Nancy (Paul) Galbraith; nephews, Christopher (Dawn) Pasco, Patrick (Danyeal) Pasco, Jason Pasco; great-nephews, Ryan Pasco, Wylder Pasco; and great-niece, Lauren Pasco.

Margaret was also survived by her sister Evelyn. However, Evelyn has since passed.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m., Aug. 19, 2023, at Smith Chapel Cemetery, in Sparta. Ken Wallace will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States or ASCPA in Margaret’s memory.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
