Mattie Louise Poore passed from this earth Jan. 1, 2023.
She was born in Sparta, on Jan. 6, 1939.
Mattie Louise was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Brady; son, Joe (Boone) Bennett; granddaughter, Sari McGill; and brother-in-law, Elijah Poore.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry Roger Poore; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Poore; daughters, Frances (Johnny) McGill, Jeri (Paul) Burks, Levona (Lanny) Davis; grandchildren, Angela McGill, Dewanna (Charlie) Goines, Regina McGill, James McGill, Christopher Woodcock, Caitlin Burks (Trevin Wright), Samantha Burks (Matthew Kenney); great-grandchildren, Donathan Maxwell, Derrick Maxwell, Dyllan Maxwell, Dakota Maxwell, Jessie Goines, Mary Goines, Cynthia Lawson, Kevin Kenney, Jerimiah Kenney, with a baby boy (Kenney) due in March 2023; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Jan. 6, 2023, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Bro. Greg Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 6, at the funeral home.
