Mrs. Maxie Buttrum Lowe, 79, of Sparta, passed away Jan. 18, 2022, at NHC Healthcare of McMinnville.

Maxie was born March 6, 1942, in the Yankeetown community of White County, to Lewis Dudley Buttrum and Rosa Nella Daniels Buttrum.

She was retired from Mallory Timers. Maxie loved dancing, especially the two-step. She would dance four nights a week in whatever dance hall had the doors open. When she slowed down from dancing and in an effort to keep her arthritis in check, she taught herself to crochet and enjoyed making blankets for her family. Above all else, she loved being Granny Mac to her large family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Lowe and Jessie Lowe, and her brother, David Buttrum.

Surviving family members include her three children, Elaine (Phil) Swack, Cricket Kerr, Chuck Lowe; stepson, Jeffrey Boles; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Joe) Cannon, Joshua Brymer, Phillip (Jessica) Swack, Bobby Norton, Dustin Kerr, Katelyn (Joe) Moore; great-grandchildren, Dylan (Stephanie) Cannon, Elizabeth Cannon, Justin Cannon, David Cannon, Jordan Brymer, Kady Bella Brymer, Noah Brymer, Andrew Swack, Addison Swack, Gabby Norton, Gage Norton, Joseph Moore V; great-great-grandchild; Zane Lovejoy; sister, Christine (Jim) Neal; brothers, Walter (Rosa) Buttrum, Roy (Jane) Buttrum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Jan. 21, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Lower Cherry Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 21, at the funeral home. Jason Graham will officiate.

Phillip Swack, Joe Cannon, Bobby Norton, Dustin Kerr, Joe Moore, and Justin Cannon will serve as pallbearers.
