Mildred Allene Walling Arnold, 78, of Walling, passed away Oct. 14, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville.
Born Sept. 7, 1946, in Citra, Florida, she was the daughter of William Arthur Walling and Ammie Lee Andrews Walling. She was the youngest of three children.
On Jan. 4, 1973, she married Gregory Myles Arnold, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mildred is remembered for her love of scratch tickets and sweet treats like ice cream and muffins. Whenever she could, Mildred would surround herself with her church family and her grandchildren. She took joy in living simply. She was stubborn and wildly determined, but she made sure you knew you were loved and taken care of.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years before he passed unexpectedly, in November 2002, Gregory Myles Arnold. Mildred was also preceded in death by her siblings, Beckham Walling and Janice Rosella Walling, and much of her extended family.
Survivors include two children, Shelby (Jack) Tessar, of Walling,
James (Teresa) Arnold, of Alabama; seven grandchildren, Haily, Jake, Brad, Sidney, Hayden, Sarah, Atticus; two in-laws, father and brother to Jack Tessar, John Tessar, and Jeff Tessar, respectively; and three great-granddogs, Finn, Rhea, and Penny.
Memorial service for Mildred will be 2 p.m., Oct. 27, 2024, at Gum Springs Baptist Church, in Walling. Pastor Bo Hendrix will officiate.
