Mildred “Bill’ Poss, 82, of Smithville, passed away Oct. 4, 2023, at Centennial Medical Center.
She was born May 19, 1941, to Albert and Flora Trusty Hooper.
Bill was a member of Bright Hill Church and was a homemaker, but the thing she was most proud of was being a wife, mother, mimi, and sister. She loved her family, friends, and even those she met the first time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lane Poss; and siblings, Maureen Florida, Eugene Hooper, Milas Hibdon, Peggy Blish Parsley, Doris Cripps, Hoyte Hooper, and Faye Trotter.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 63 years, W.J. Poss, of Smithville; three children, John (Lori) Poss, Jim (J.J.) Poss, Dana (Travis) Franklin, all of Smithville; five grandchildren, Corey (Erin) Poss, Bethany Poss, Whitney (Cameron) Lester, Lane (Madison) Poss, Tanner Poss (Lexi Roller), Laney and Sutton Poss, Oakleigh Lester; two sisters, Dean Johnson, of Smithville, Sue Banker, of Sparta; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Janet Greer and Brenda Cripps.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Oct. 8, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Home, with burial in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Bro. Michael Hale officiated.
