Minute with the Mayor

Question:

Are there any plans to upgrade the playground equipment at South Carter Park?

Answer:

I am excited to say yes.  We (the city) have received bids for new playground equipment and are looking at that new equipment at this present time.

The equipment at South Carter Park and Wallace-Smith Park are both in need of some work and repairs.  One thing that I would like to see is the use of more durable composite materials and begin to move away from the wood structures that we have installed in the past.

Another area is the skateboard park area that had to be moved due to building demolition that took place.  We are currently looking at rebuilding that area at South Carter Park as well. 

We are hoping that all runs smoothly in the bid and purchase plans, and we will then get scheduled to remove the existing playground equipment at both parks.  Once that has taken place, we can schedule the installation of the new equipment.

There will be a short time that the playground will be closed for the above to take place, but, once we get it installed, I believe our citizens will be very happy with the upgrades.  Keep watching for the timing of this to take place.
