Nannie Baker Gentry, 89, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Nannie was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Sparta, to Beecher and Lizzie Green Baker.
Nannie or “Granny” as she preferred to be called, took pride in everything she did but took the most pride in her family.
Being called Granny was her greatest accomplishment as she always placed others before herself; her family was her legacy.
Spunky, hardworking Nannie worked 50 years before retiring.
In addition to her parents, Nannie was preceded in death by her son, David Gentry; brothers Dan Baker, Johnny Baker, Shirley Green; sister, Mary Delk; and great-grandson, Elijah Byrdwell.
Nannie is survived by her children, Edward Miller, Betty Gentry, Robbie Gentry, Annette Gentry, Robert Gentry, Jack Tayse; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Following Nannie’s wishes, there will be no service.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
