Northfield Elementary School hosts Science Night

On Dec. 5, 2023, The Creative Discovery Museum of Chattanooga set up the “Science of Art Night” at Northfield Elementary School. Students and their parents were invited to participate in hands-on activities running from sublimation art to chromatography.

 “Science of Art Night was one of our family engagement events sponsored by Title 1,” Teresa Holman, Northfield Reading Interventionist said. “This night was exceptional in that the Creative Discovery Museum provided all of the activities and trained our teachers on each station. The families loved it. We had great feedback from the event.”

The Chattanooga Creative Discovery Museum “Family Nights” provides materials for nine activities serving up to 300 participants. The family nights are designed to be engaging, learning-rich experiences for ages four and up, including adults. The event lasted for two hours.

After promoting the night with flyers, newsletters, text messages, and signage, Northfield welcomed 129 parents and students to the event. Thirteen teachers facilitated nine different stations. Families who visited each station were put into a drawing for a four-pack of tickets to the Chattanooga Creative Discovery Museum.
