One business that has seen some explosive growth and success in the past year has been The Purple Iris. Kim Riley’s passion project, which officially opened not even a full year ago has just unveiled The Purple Iris Too, a second location in a larger space. Located at 175 Mose Dr, in the same center as Save A Lot, the new location hosted the ribbon-cutting for their grand opening this past Tuesday, August 4.
Purple Iris is a vendor store, meaning that vendors from around the local area can sell their goods at a centralized location, rather than having to rely solely on online marketplaces. Local craftsmen making anything from woodworking, jewelry, quilts, and even some décor are among the vendors present. There are also antique and vintage sections in the new store.
The new location provides a tremendous amount of space in comparison to the original location at 229 Mose Dr. Formerly the Dollar General that moved to just off Highway 111 last year, Purple Iris Too has been able to provide nearly three times as much space for the ever-expanding list of vendors and items up for purchase.
During the ribbon cutting, Kim Riley expressed just how happy the success of her business, and part of her motivation behind opening it.
“There are so many talented people in Sparta,” said Riley. “And not enough places for them to sell what they make.”
While Riley has made it clear she is not going to aim for a third store, she is proud of how far the Purple Iris has come. And as Purple Iris Too begins business, this passion project has already exceeded every expectation. For local handcrafted goods made in the region, Purple Iris remains the marketplace to visit.
