Rex Loel Clouse, 69, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 15, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Sparta, to Haston and Jacqueline Swindell Clouse.

He served in the United States Army during the Cold War Era. He worked for White County Emergency Medical Service for over 30 years. He was also certified as a Red Cross lifeguard at 14 years old, the youngest in the state of Tennessee at the time. He performed both pool and ocean rescues. He loved babies, spending time with his family, and he enjoyed his granddaughter’s soccer games. His proudest titles were Pa and Great-Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tacy Hendrixson.

Survivors include his wife, Renee Melton Clouse, of Sparta; daughter, Kira Clouse, of Smithville; granddaughters, Caitlin Clouse, Megan Hendrixson, Krissy Hendrixson, Emily Hendrixson; great-grandsons, Kolton England, Elijah Randall; sisters, Wanda Webb, of Knoxville, Sharon Bowman (Steve), of Knoxville; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Funeral service was 2 p.m., Sept. 17, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Clouse Cemetery, on Burgess Falls Road. David Copeland officiated.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Savage, Jessie Buttrum, Shane Steele, John Hurd, Mike Kerr, and Ray Simmons.

Oak Lawn Funeral Homewas in charge of arrangements.
