Robert Braxton “Bob” Hunter, 76, of Rockford, peacefully passed away with his loving wife by his side, on Feb. 5, 2024.

He was born June 7, 1947, in Sparta, to John Beecher “J.B.” Hunter Sr. and Nancy Jo Lee Hunter.

He graduated from White County High School, in 1965. Bob was a championship golfer who played for the University of Tennessee from 1965-1969. He was a Letterman and Vol for Life. He was a longtime member of Holston Hills Country Club and St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral. He loved watching and talking all things sports. He loved his boat on Norris Lake, going to the Smoky Mountains and Dollywood. Bob never met a stranger and was truly loved by so many people. His positive attitude and his huge grin could cheer up anyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Hunter; daughter, Steffanie Augustine, of Savannah, Georgia; son Braxton (Hayley) Hunter, of Knoxville; stepsons, Tim (Lindsay) Wilson, of Maryville, Tanner (Kallie) Wilson, of Rockford; brothers, John (Jan) Hunter, of Sparta, Lee (Linda) Hunter, of Cookeville; grandchildren, Jackson, Levi, Madison, Lydia, Reese; great-grandchild, Livie; niece, Lauren (Wyatt) England, of Brentwood; nephew, Fort Hunter, of Cookeville; niece, Amber (Ashley) Dicus, of Sparta; and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, in Knoxville, at 2 p.m. EST, on Feb. 24, 2024.  Reception with family will follow the service.
