Roberta Ann Johnson Holman, better known as Peggy, 90, of Sparta, passed away Nov. 9, 2023, with her husband of 70 years, Clay, by her side.
Peggy was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Sparta, to Robert Paul and Clara LaFever Johnson.
She was a longtime receptionist for White County Hospital. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Johnson and Stanton Johnson.
Surviving family members include her husband of 70 years, Clay Holman, of Sparta; son, Will Holman and wife Sherrie, of Knoxville; grandchildren, Travis Holman, of Sparta, Jennifer Thurman, of Texas, Biskie Duncan and husband Josh, of Bossier City, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Will Thurman, Clay Thurman, Elwood Atticus Holman; and a brother, William Lafayette Johnson, of Nevada.
In honor of Peggy’s wishes, a private burial was conducted Nov. 10, 2023, at Highland Cemetery. There are no public services planned at this time.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
