Roy Pruitt Phillips Jr., of Cookeville, passed away Nov. 18, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born Feb. 3, 1934.
Mr. Phillips retired from industrial sales, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He loved traveling, both with his family and while stationed in Germany during his service in the United States Air Force. A man of many interests and hobbies, he was a pilot, ham radio operator, oil painter, carpenter, clockmaker, and guitarist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Pruitt Phillips Sr. and Eleanor Verdie Riley Phillips; his wife of 61 years, Rachel McGee Phillips; and his brother, Fred Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Robert) Mangum, of Brandon, Mississippi, Lorie (Tommy) Buford, of Cookeville; his grandchildren, Lee (Lauren) Mangum, of Fishers, Indiana, Clay (Amanda) Mangum, of DeQueen, Arkansas, Shannon Buford, of Cookeville; his great-grandchildren, Julia and Owen Mangum, of Fishers, Indiana, and Molly, Will, Amelia, and Lola Mangum, of DeQueen, Arkansas; his brother, Joe (Ginnie) Phillips, of Brownsburg, Indiana; his sister, Barb (Joaquin) Garcia, of Nashville; and his many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
