Sarah Lou Dodson, 84, of Sparta, passed from this life, on April 15, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Sarah was born March 8, 1940, and was the daughter of Roy Looney and Frances Russell Looney.
She loved reading and cooking and was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Sarah worked at Mallory Timers for 30 years. She loved her job, her many friends, and her co-workers. She was a U.T. Vols and Atlanta Braves fan.
She loved her family especially her grandchildren. Her love of the Lord and her church family at the Shady Grove Methodist Church was a shining light in her life.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Dodson; two brothers, Joe and Russell Looney; and a sister, Lorena McKay.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Whitaker,
Donette England and husband Michael, Tonya Dodson; sons, Kenneth Dodson and wife Tammy, Russell Dodson and wife Angie; grandchildren, Laci Hale, Ayla Whittaker, Brody Whittaker and wife Maria, Memphis Dodson, Ashlyn Dodson, Rylee Dodson; great-grandchild, Jovie Ann Whittaker; and other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m., April 20, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Mike England will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., April 20, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests books be donated to White County Public Library, in Sarah’s name.
