Shelah A. Cole passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family, on Oct. 3, 2020, at the age of 86. 

Mr. Cole was born on Dec. 14, 1933, in Putnam County, to Benjamin Harrison Cole and Winnie Usrey Cole.

He was a dedicated Christian, member of the Heritage Baptist Church, in Frankfort, Illinois, and a proud United States Army Veteran, serving overseas for 18 months.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Virgie (McCormick) Cole, Erbie Cole, Vila Mae (Caldwell) Cole, Elbert Cole, Edward Cole, Vira Ann (Jones) Cole, Bethel Cole, Thomas Solomon Cole, and Benjamin Higgerson Cole.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Omega J. Riley Cole; their daughter, Sabrina Affeldt (Mark); sons, Craig Cole, John Cole (Casmira); three grandchildren, Shannon Cole, Benjamin Cole, Emily Cole; one great-grandchild, Rielley Paulsen; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m., Oct. 9, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Oct. 10, 2020, at Corinth Cemetery, in the Cassville community, with military honors.  All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of a great man who touched many lives.  The service will be officiated by his nephew, Ronnie Taylor.

The family would like to thank Palos Health Hospice for their    compassionate care and support during the final days of Mr. Cole’s life.  They also appreciate all the love, prayers, visits, calls, and food received over the past few days from many friends in the Illinois and Tennessee area.
