We celebrate the life of Shirley Acuff, a woman whose radiant faith and boundless love illuminated the lives of those around her. Known for her infectious laughter and kindness, Shirley was a true embodiment of her Christian values, making it her life's mission to love like Jesus. She was a cherished member of the White County community, where her spirit of generosity and genuine warmth touched countless hearts.

For 50 years, she shared a beautiful and devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Scott. She loved Scott big; he was her constant companion, and time spent with him was her biggest delight.

She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Scottie and Seth, whom she cherished with unwavering love and pride. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her three grandsons, Zachary, Logan, and Sawyer. She was proud to be their Nan.

Shirley was the daughter of John Verble Walker and Effie Belle Savage Walker, of White County. She had three sisters whom she adored. She held a special bond with each sister and treasured the moments they shared together. The laughter and love they exchanged were a constant source of comfort and joy. Shirley is survived by her sister June Bradley and her husband, Bill. Preceding her in death were her sisters, Martha Cowan and Mary Rowland.

Shirley's passion for music was a gift she shared generously. As a dedicated music teacher, she instilled a love of melody and rhythm in countless students, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. She especially enjoyed teaching piano, sharing her love of the instrument and its beautiful sounds. Her dedication extended beyond the classroom as she led the children's choir at church, nurturing young voices and hearts. Each year, she poured her heart into producing a beloved Christmas program, a gift of music and faith that blessed the entire community.

Shirley’s heart was deeply rooted in her faith community. She held a special place in her heart for Gum Springs Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and purpose. Over the years, she cultivated lasting relationships and cherished friendships at Sparta First Baptist Church, Crossville Nazarene Church, Sparta Nazarene Church, and Cookeville Nazarene Church.

A vibrant soul, Shirley was the life of every gathering, radiating warmth and laughter. She embraced life to the fullest, finding joy in every moment. She lived her faith openly, sharing her love of the Lord with all who crossed her path.

Her heart overflowed with compassion, and she made it a point to let her family and friends know they were constantly in her prayers. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire and guide us.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Scott; her sons, Scottie and Seth; Seth's wife, Jennifer; her three cherished grandsons, Zachary, Logan, and Sawyer; and a host of family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Shirley had a deep and abiding passion for supporting missionaries who spread the Gospel throughout the world. She believed in the transformative power of Jesus's message and generously gave to those who carried it to the ends of the earth.
