Marty McFly’s Blue Light Motorcycle Ride to benefit Shop with a Cop with the Sparta Police Department returns Aug. 7, 2021, at Pearson Park, in Sparta.

Radio personality and Sparta native Marty (Selby) McFly, who can be heard locally on 94.7 The Country Giant weekday afternoons, announced the first details about the ride.

“First of all, the money raised will benefit White County families struggling at Christmas,” McFly says. “The ride will once again work with the Sparta YMCA to identify families needing help. Those families will be get a shopping trip with members of the Sparta Police Department who volunteer to help. This year, with the help of 94.7 The Country Giant, I am able to offer sponsors not only the exposure from the ride itself but on the radio station and social media sites as well.”

If anyone would like to be a sponsor, send an email to bluelightride@yahoo.com. According to McFly, the Del Toro family has already stepped up to buy the title sponsorship of the ride. Their businesses include:  AFEEA Staffing, Toro Nutrition, Frank’s, White County Cabinets, Lofts of Sparta, and Concept Marketing & Business Solutions.

Motorcycle riders who participate will have fun as the Sparta Police Department leads the ride and “runs you right out of town.”  Lunch is included, courtesy of Boswell’s Country Roads Harley Davidson, in Cookeville. One lucky rider will win a two-night stay at the Holiday Inn Resort, in Panama City Beach, Florida, and 30 riders will receive a general admission ticket to the White County Fair.

“Thanks to The Country Giant and the White County Fair Board, we are already lining up a large amount of goodies for the riders, including 30 riders winning a limited edition challenge coin,” McFly said. “That’s 60 prizes, and we are just getting started.”

If anyone wants to ride, be a sponsor, or make a donation, send an email to Marty McFly - bluelightride@yahoo.com

“We have the best first responders in the area,” McFly said. “I encourage you to support Sparta Police Department, fire department, including county volunteer stations, sheriff’s department, rescue squad, and EMS.”
